Small Block Chevy Engines and Parts + T-56 Transmissions

Re: Small Block Chevy and MOPAR Engines, Transmissions and P

Hi, Brian!

I have sold all my 9.3" Olds/Pontiac rearend parts. A fellow from Sweden who is a dyed in the wool Pontiac man bought the whole lot and had it shipped to Scandinavia. Amongst the cars he has there are a '57 Safari wagon and several '61 - '62 Catalinas. One of the Catalinas is a genuine factory race car with aluminum front sheetmetal and trunk lid and has the dual quad engine with full length cast iron headers. I have only seen one of these up close and personal in the early '70s...... The engine was apart and laying in the trunk and the fellow who owned it gave me the 4-speed in payment for some work I did for him. I had just installed a hot running 327 in my '55 Chevy business coupe and I put the 4-speed in my '55.

If there is anything else that you see which you may be interested in later on, please give me a holler. By the end of summer or early fall, I may have a line on a vintage crossram intake for the '64 and earlier Pontiacs. Depends on how some horse trading works out. Its an Edelbrock X2,which is laid out pretty much like the old X1 crossram for Chevys which Edelbrock has begun reproducing this past year. These are configured for 6 2bbl carbs (3 per side). The hot ticket is either to run 4 carbs on the ends of each side that are large enough to do the job and then close off the center carb mount on each side with a blanking plate...... Or to run 6 smaller carbs such as the Stromberg 97s on progressive linkage with the 4 end carbs as primaries and the 2 center carbs as secondaries. I'll let you know if I manage to snag this intake. If I had a Pontiac engine it would fit, I'd run this setup in a heartbeat! BTW...... I have a set of 4 matched 2bbl carbs which would be perfect on this intake with a hot running 428 or 455 Pontiac mill. They are New Old Stock still in their boxes (orig. application is 1950 Hudson 258 cu.in. straight 8...... These are Carter WDO carbs and they have 30mm venturi size which is spot on for a 4 deuce setup on an engine that size.)

Best regards,

Harry

Ok Harry.
Thank You.
I am split between Vintage Pontiacs & a C4 Corvette convertible of mine.
I like Horse trading.
Would love to get my hands on a matching set of 1962 late to Jan 16 1963 Pontiac Super Duty 421 D-port "980" heads.
Best flowing & balanced stock iron Poncho heads ever made.
Next to my 1970 Ram Air 4 "614" heads. Round port exhaust.

You can flip those 405 HP ratings around.
Actually 504- 550Hp flywheel Hp a late 1961-1963 421 SD daul quad.
My dream Wide Track Tin Indian is a 1961 Bubble Top Ventura.
Build it with a 421 or 455. Stroke for 477 ci.
Race gas normally aspirated 850-900 Hp.
Street drive on occassion too.
Have Ram Air 4, Super Duty 455, 1970 Trans Am parts in hand always.
I like to Horse trade.
Ultra rare Mickey Thompson speed parts are intetesting too.

Roger that...... The later design Mickey Thompson crossram intakes with the rounded plenum sides flowing smoothly into the runners are sweet if using dual 4bbl carbs......

Image

If using 4 or 6 carbs positioned for best fuel distribution, the late '50s - early '60s X2 crossram by Edelbrock is hard to beat, though......

Image

Image

I like the Mickey Thompson 'Super Scavenger' headers which have equal length primaries terminating at different points inside large square bodied collectors......

Image

I helped Dan Miller with his early hemi EMC engine before he passed on and we were going to build a similar set, but size the large collectors to double as pulse wave terminator boxes as per David Vizard's research.

Happy Motoring,

Harry

You have some very Kool Vintage Speed parts Harry.
Micky Thompson made some very unique parts back in the day.
He also made Pontiac V8 Hemi cylinder heads. Aluminum castings.
Never seen a pair in my lifetime to touch & admire.
Legend has that on a 1959-66 Pontiac 389 with a welded up & stroked Forged early 389 Crank to 4.300" stoke , standard bore size of4.0625 " & 6-5/8" rods & Thompson Hemi Heads, 10-30% Nitro mix, crazy power was made & reliable.
6-71or 8-71 supercharger used of course too.
Lowvball Hp of 1400.
8- Second 1/4 mile times in an Altered wheelbase steel bodied doorslammer like a 1965 or 1966 GTO.
I Love Nostalgia Speed parts & drag racing.

David Vizzard is smart. Have read his books & many articles by him
I don't always agree.
He is originally from England.
Grumpy Rivals him for experience.

Updated (current) listing......

Having retired, it is time to inventory and put up for sale items remaining from past projects. All parts are new unless noted otherwise.

If interested, please send PM. I am located NW of Houston, Texas. Reasonable offers considered. Prices listed are negotiable.

* Will ship smaller parts and split shipping cost within lower 48 states...... Payment by US Postal Money Order accepted.

* Larger parts to be picked up in person, cash on receipt...... No checks, MOs nor credit cards.

All sales are final......

New heads and exhaust manifolds for small block Chevy and crossram intake base for V-6 Chevy......

Price drop on ported Victor Jr. heads...... $2,300. Good through August 31. If not sold by then, we will use these heads on my son's engine.

You won't find a better set of fully reworked 300 + cfm SBC heads still new, in box at this price. If interested, send PM and we'll work out details.

Thanks,

Harry......

$2,300 - Victor Jr. heads with full portwork by Mondello, intake ports matched to 1209 gasket size, 65cc chambers, 2.08" /1.60" valves. Intake side flows 306 cfm @ 0.525" lift per Mondello.

$180 - GM crossram intake base for 1st design GM 229 V-6 Bowtie racing heads. With very few mods to intake, this intake can be made to fit '85 - '94 4.3 litre V-6 production heads as well. Consists of base only - You will need make a top plate to fit the carburettor(s) you wish to run.

$180 - Sanderson QP1000 cast iron exhaust manifolds. Special ordered with both sides having outlet centered. Note: These are both passenger side manifolds. They tuck in very close to the block and on the drivers side, there is a clearance issue with one of the raised bosses cast into 1958 and later blocks for side engine mounts. As such, either the boss must be ground about 1/4" for clearance and '55 - '57 front mounts used...... Or spacers similar to those used to adapt Stahl headers may be fitted between drivers side head and manifold to gain additional clearance so side engine mounts may be used.

Used intakes......

$300 - Offenhauser #5253 dual quad 360 degree intake for small block Chevy (polished aluminum finish, very nice looking intake)

$180 - 1974 Aston Martin Series-3 Isolated Runner intake original to 5.3 litre Lagonda V-8. Only 967 such Series-3 Aston Martin V-8 cars were produced. Mounts (4) Weber 42 DCNF carbs (not included)

$150 - Early 1980s Maserati 4.9 litre V-8 Isolated Runner intake. Mounts (4) Weber 42 DCNF carbs (not included)

New transmission, bellhousing, clutch, flywheel and hydraulic mastre and slave cylinder......

$3,000 - New T-56 Borg Warner 6-speed production trans, OEM for '93 - '95 Camaro or Firebird with 305 or 350 engine. Price includes new GM bellhousing, new GM flywheel, new GM '94 Camaro hydraulic master and slave cylinder and new Center Force (pull type) clutch upgrade for this transmission.

Best regards and thanks for looking through the listing,

Harry
